It compliments the 8in chefs knife I just bought for my carving needs at Christmas. Everyone who spends time in their kitchen should have atleast a good chefs knife in their block but for me this carving knife gives me a little more versatility. A more specialized knife. The quality that is known with the Wusthof brand of knifes is easy to see in this knife as well as my chefs classic 8in It's expensive but I think you will see you are getting what you payed for.
