Review: Awesome stair railings!!! (Updated) - I was very pleased with the quality and durability of this stair rail. I was afraid it would be thin metal, but is actually heavy wrought iron. Packed very well for shipping. VERY sturdy, fastened to my wooden stair treads. Looks really nice. Will probably buy another to go on the other side of the stairs as well. Was shocked to see that the box included two drill bits, a hex head screwdriver bit, an extension, and a socket for the lag bolts. Also a pencil - already sharpened! Bolts for installation in concrete or wood are included. Washers are on the bolts for concrete mounting. Take these off and use with the lag bolts for wood mounting. All you really need to install these is an electric drill. Installation instructions are very good. One word of caution - drill the floor mounting holes a bit closer to the outer edge instead of in the center of the hole you marked as stated in the instructions. Otherwise, you will have problems with the socket not fitting between the bolt head and the vertical section of the rail. The only problem I had with installation is that the metal is too strong for the self-tapping screws to really bite. I drilled a starter "dimple", then was able to start the screws without a problem. Update - I ordered a second railing so that I would have one on both sides of the stairs. Be aware that the company has modified the design, and is now shipping the new version. The desertcart listing still shows the older design, and the model number did not change. Instead of the top rail being oval shaped, it is now rectangular. Personally, I prefer the older design. The old rail is slightly wider and easier to grip. I think it also looks better. Either still works fine, of course. The new version looks more contemporary. There is a card in the box that tells you if you end up with a mis-matched set, they will send you one of the older design. I’m still waiting for my replacement to arrive. Customer support has been very responsive via text message.
Review: Terrific railing that comes with everything you need! - This is a terrific product - it comes with everything you need to get the job done, minus the electric drill! All the parts are there, great instructions, plus drill bits and even a drill bit extender. Installation is easy and it is nice and solid once installed. The price is also excellent. One tiny negative - the railing itself is squared and not "comfortable" to grip like a more rounded railing might be. But that is a small issue, especially given the price point and the overall quality of the entire package. Highly recommend!

A: Wipe the handrail with water and wipe it down with a nonabrasive or microfiber cleaning cloth.

**Q: Does the rail get hot in the sun on hot days?**
A: Yes, like any other metal. Since it is powder coated, there is some control over the temperature.

**Q: What tools do I need to install this handrail?**
A: You will need a Hand-held power tool like a drill with a screwdriver bit set and, at times hack saw if cutting is required.

**Q: What size is the drill bit, and what are the dimensions of the concrete anchors in terms of length and diameter?**
A: The Drill Bit is 8mm or 5/16. Anchor is 3” long. Both the drill bit and anchor have the same diameter.

**Q: Can this handrail be painted or stained to match my decor?**
A: Yes, in a way it would add another layer of protection, however, the reason our finishing is powder coated black is it is resistant to flaking, chipping, scratches, and color deterioration.
