Review: Great Pair of Carpet Scissors - I recently purchased 2 Mohawk area rugs and pads. I originally trimmed the pads with a pair of regular 7" scissors. It was tedious but worked. After the pad and rug settled (about a week) the pad needed trimming again and the regular scissors failed miserably, incapable of trimming the 1/2" needed without the pad folding under the blades. Saw this pair and am not disappointed. A sturdy, heavy-duty pair of scissors that cuts a clean, straight border. Even trims small irregularities left by the regular household scissors. Originally, I was thinking it's too much to spend for what would likely be one-time use. After spending hundreds of dollars on 2 quality rugs and pads, paying $30 for a quality pair of scissors to keep the borders "clean" turned out to be a good investment. Or do they only work for cutting off excess nap?** A: No, they wouldn’t be good for cutting up remnants. They do work well for cutting off the excess nap though. **Q: Would these cut through very thick area rug (1.25")?** A: They are sturdy, well-constructed scissors, so I would think they might be able to cut a thicker rug. The issue, as I see it, would be the hand/arm strength you would need to cut through thick fibers. I had to use both hands on the border of the rug I cut and because I was cutting it to then dispose of it, I cut it in small sections which was hard, but manageable. **Q: Can you use these for cutting down masses of plants?** A: I have not used them for that specific purpose but these are, without doubt, the best shears I have ever owned. I had immense trouble finding something that would cut carpeting and these do it with ease.
