Most similar hammer/cutter tools are 2-3 times the size and weight (and cost), which keeps them from being stored in a convenient location (e.g. glovebox) should disaster strike. Such a tool is useless if it's not within arm's reach when the car starts to sink and seconds count. Anyways, I ordered this tool from SSP hoping that the smaller size didn't compromise quality. Once I received the tools, the high level of quality was clear. The handle is thick and provides a good grip, and the hammer is top-heavy enough to provide more than adequate momentum to break a window. I also like that the pointed end has a protective silicone cover and that the opposite end is flat for clearing out glass (a feature unique to this tool). The blade is also incredibly sharp and thick, and the reflective sticker on the side of the hammer makes it easy to find in dark conditions. Overall I am very pleased with the features and quality of this tool and the price cannot be beat.I also had a good experience dealing with SSP. I had experienced a minor ordering issue and the same day I received a personal email from SSP apologizing and correcting the issue. To put the weight into context, it's about as much as a full veinte cup of drip coffee. People who wear size large gloves may find the handle too small.I went to a salvage/auto recycler yard to test the device out and it works very well.It sliced through all three test seatbelts and works best if you pull your arms with moderate force in opposite directions sitting in your car seat (like you would in real life) but works okay if you had to free a passenger.It breaks door glass if you swing at it or place shoulder nudging force on it.It easily will slice through kid car seat straps too.Overall, it's a great in-case tool to have. Why the hesitation? Because this is one of those products you really can't test very easily or cheaply, and is not something you want to have to use unless you're in a very serious situation.
