I don't know if this is solid sterling silver or if it is plated, I couldn't figure it out from the product description. They are nice and shiny. The back is hollow, the moon and star have a slight floating effect because of the back design. While I would prefer a solid back, it's not too noticable unless it flips over. The star is not affixed to the moon, the necklace chain connects both pieces. This has a typical lobster claw clasp and a chain extender. It came in a nice hinged gift box and included a microfiber cleaning cloth.*I received this product free or at a large discount for honest, unbiased review purposes.
