Tough enough for kitchens?** A: Yes I bought for kitchen shelves. Unlike another product I previously bought for my kitchen shelves, Decotalk is fantastic!!!! I use vinyl paper for everything! I wrap furniture, cover storage boxes, recover small appliances ...you name it. II use a heat gun on low when I am wrapping or if a wrinkle happens. I originally bought the gorilla brand navy blue and it drove me insane! The gorilla brand constantly had air pockets even after I used the heat gun on low. It would appear to be smooth, and then 15 min later an air bubble would form. I ordered Decotalk because I prefer the thicker vinyl. I also love that when you overlap the vinyl it is seamless. The dark blue is an incredible color. It is a bit darker than I expected. **Q: can black color be used as chalk board?** A: Hi, this black wallpaper is not recommended for use as a chalkboard because it will take time to remove the oil-based markings. **Q: Will this stick to painted cabinets?** A: Hi, if you can stick scotch tape on the surface of the cabinet, then this gray contact paper also will stick to the cabinet. **Q: Do you need to sand a laminate surface before applying this product?** A: no sanding required- this is just like contact paper but THICKER so be careful to align with edges-you will need to go over any sides that you bend over an edge-you will need to repress a few times as it wraps because of its thickness. It is removeable but best have it aligned along your surface and work backwards away from you as you are smoothing. The finished product is awesome, washable. We did a plain piece of wood that was the countertop for our standalone coffee bar and it looks like slate until you touch it. I have scrubbed it where kids spilled syrup and sugar, spilled juices and coffee and soda and everything cleans right up. I highly recommend purchasing a kit to use with this including cutting tools and smoothing tools.That said, the final result turned out fantastic. It’s been going strong for almost two years now and I have yet to have any major issues with peeling or discoloring. It’s easy to clean and continues to look great. The texture is very smooth and easy to keep clean. I got the green color, which is a really pretty muted grey-green, almost acts as a neutral. It’s thick enough to look & feel luxurious and not show every imperfection, however is relatively easy to work with for install. There’s a bit of a learning curve, however once I started to use a hairdryer to heat up the paper to bend better for corners, everything went so smoothly and stuck perfectly (this is KEY). Because of the learning curve, a day later I ended up removing one piece to redo (I’m a perfectionist to a fault), and it removed relatively easily with no residue left. Also wiped down well without any water damage so perfect for a kitchen/bathroom. Only thing is I couldn’t get the tape residue off where the roll was taped for shipping so that first ~12inches weren’t useable. So I wouldn't do this on a wall. More of a small project.I used this to re vamp allllllll of my games to have uniformity for my game library! I just did two sides of the game boxes because my husband was not sure if he wanted to keep the option for the original nostalgic game board logos and feel! But he's liking this much better now! And we still have that option!I also did two sides in case I needed to rearrange the boxes to fit length or width wise.Purchasing black boxes for each game to rehouse was expensive and seemed wasteful for the perfectly fine boxes the games are originally housed in. So this was a great option.I also used it to revamp a small bathroom cabinet.
