The handle provides a secure grip for the iPad and, as a bonus, can be folded back to serve as the base for using the case as a vertical stand in landscape mode. Openings on the sides of the case allow access to the connectors and controls. The dock connector is protected from the elements with a foam flap that covers the opening when it is not in use.
