The one her speech therapist gave us had a funny taste and the only way she would drink water was if I added a flavor to it. The problem is the flavorings have added vitamins and minerals that interfere with some of her medications. I tried a gel thickener thinking it would be easier than a powder; however, to get a nectar consistency I had to use more and I found they didn't mix well with warm liquids. Then I found DysphagiAide and couldn't be happier. I like that you can customize the consistency, it is taste-free, works great with warm liquids and even carbonated liquids (you need to stir a little before each sip). I highly recommend using a shaker bottle with a metal round mixer for the best results. The company gives the consumer a lot of options making it very user friendly.
