I've gone through 2 other pairs that were suppose to be pro grade....** A: Having purchased a pair and realizing the density of dried bamboo shoots. I would locate a tool designed specifically for those types of heavy duty application. **Q: What should I pay attention to when opening and closing the lock with scissors?** A: Yes, I bought two pairs of scissors, one of which is a tighter lock, you can squeeze the handle hard 1-2 times, which can give the lock more room to move and make the lock easier to slide. **Q: Can I trim a 2 inch stem?** A: I haven't realy measured what I've cut. I had one piece that had to be at lest 1/2 inches thick. I'm a 90 yr. old lady and if I can cut something that thick I'm betting you can cut something thicker. They are the best cutting shears I've ever had. besided you can take them back to Amazon if you aren't happy or what you wanted. I've cut lemon tree branches and rose bushes to give you a example of what I've cut so far. I've very happy with them and I think you will like them.
