Review: Pretty and amazing for the price - I bought this bow to replace a brazilwood bow that was essentially falling apart (student outfit bows aren't worth it, kids). It's a very pretty bow. There's inlays around the screw as well, which I didn't see while looking at the pictures, so that was a nice surprise. The stick is round, not octagonal. Overall the aesthetics are great, maybe a little flashy for orchestral or chamber music. In terms of actual use, I love this bow. It's balanced nicely. It's weight is significant enough that you know it's there, but it's not heavy enough to be a hindrance. Staccato and ricochet are a breeze with this. My poor pinky can rest now instead of straining like before. The only gripe I have is that when I opened it up the plastic over the metal portion above the grip was extremely difficult to remove, and seemed to be put on so that the grip was glued over it. It was a pain to remove, and almost knocked the grip out of place. However, I'm not going to drop a star for this because I think it had more to do with the packaging than the product, and I can be unintentionally violent with packaging. Overall, this is an insanely good bow for the price. It's well-crafted, pleasing to the eye, and affordable. If you're looking for an upgrade from a student grade bow, this is an amazing option.
