I ordered the chocolate brown and it does block any light coming into the room. The fabric is super soft really nice and of high quality. It does have wrinkles upon arrival so you may want to iron it to take those out, I did try using some wrinkle release but it did not remove those wrinkles. The velcro seems to work fine I have it on the wall over my window and my wall is textured and it is holding just fine.
