My hair is only 6 inches long. I am well versed as using hair appliances. I did 3 small sections, no problem. Fourth time it ate my hair and would not let go! I had to pry viny sections loose, finally cut the rest and this was on TOP of my hair! Must have registered that it was tangled because it shut itself off. I was about to send this home with my 11 yr old granddaughter (long hair) but not now! It goes in the trash. OUCH! **Q: Is there a way to lock it in the off position? I cannpicture it accidentally getting turned on in a gym bag or luggage and starting a fire.** A: You have to hold down the on button for it to come on. It also comes with a bag to keep it in while you travel! & the outside of it surprisingly doesn’t get hot! **Q: Will this work on super long hair? My hair is past my waist and typically doesn’t work or gets stuck in auto curlers. Will my hair get stuck in this?** A: I would say No. It might curl part way up but I tried it on my grand daughters hair (which is long), and it would not curl all of hers.
