It is really designed for sliding windows and has a seal to close the remaining gap. This does not work on opening windows so you might need a separate kit designed for hinged windows such as the HOOMEE 400CM Universal Window Seal for Portable Air Conditioner And Tumble Dryer **Q: Does the remote control have a display?** A: No the Remote control does not have a display. **Q: Where does the exhaust pipe go on the unit itself? Id assume it goes on the back but i can't see anything circular on the picture.** A: It ducts out the back, easy to attach pipe **Q: How do you order the alternative window kit? I do not have a sash window** A: Hello, I have regular type windows, and I just hang the exhaust on the upwards tilted handle of the small top opening window, with the window open. It works fine. I also have another air con unit in the bedroom, and also just hang the vent on the handle, with the window slightly open, ofc. Again, no problems so far, in over a years usage. I do have vent fitting bits of plastic that came with both of the units, but I've been too lazy to drill any holes and mount them :) If I were to bothered, I would fix the plastic vent mountings to the upvc windows using screws, and have the windows slightly open, as I do currently. Great for during Winter and we've never had to pay for heating. However, on warmer days the flat retains all heat and ends up hotter than outside with no air flow. Currently with the heatwave the temperature has been over 30 degrees and we've been melting in the flat, unable to sleep during the hot nights. We decided we'd had enough and would invest in a portable air conditioner. We did our research and decided to go with Meaco. Very reasonably priced when you start comparing with others on the market. Also, on the smaller and lighter side when comparing to other units which can be around/over 30kgs. This unit is 23kgs and on wheels so it's easy to push around. We've been moving it from bedroom to living room depending on where we want the AC running. With Amazon the unit arrived in 2 days! Amazing. So easy to set up. We didn't have to read any instructions and had it set up in minutes. It immediately starts to cool the room down. Unexpectedly came with a free window kit compatible with our windows which open inwards. These cost about 20 pounds on Amazon so saved us that additional cost. But in all honesty we were so keen to get started we used the AC without the window seal and it still works fantastically to cool down our bedroom. If you can't be bothered with the faff of the window seal kit don't worry as it still works well! I know some have mentioned that the unit is noisy but all I can say to that is what do you expect from an AC unit. It's going to of course make some noise. We haven't found this to be a problem and we easily can fall asleep to it.My boyfriend and I are ecstatic with our purchase. The rest of the UK will be sweltering over the next week and we'll be relaxing calmly in the cool provided by Maeco.10/10 would recommend. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ As described *by N***S on 29 January 2025* Bit the bullet and invested out of season, came into its own last summer. Is a bit too noisey to keep on in the bedroom at night but certainly cools the room down. Easily moved around, good for money for occasional summer use ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is going to be so welcome in the hotter weather *by K***S on 7 June 2023* We purchased this as we have a Meaco Zambezi dehumidifier which I rate very highly. I'm going to vent this via our air vent in the lounge ,which is for venting our front room because we have a log burner. I purchased a reducer collar so that should work well.Yes, it's slightly noisy but it's better than some. I don'y think you'll get a silent one owing to the fan and the compressor functions in an air conditioner. This moves a lot of air though, even the fan settings push out a very noticeable air flow into the room. We had a cooling fan system last year but I don't like the idea of damp air being circulated onto furniture and walls etc. Also with water air coolers they only get to a certain point where they can't actually cool the air anymore they just add to the humidity.The build of this Meaco air conditioner is very good and the functions work well on it.
