Review: Great wound care product - Great product for a wound care.
Review: Awesome results! - I take care of my 88-year-old father who, among other things, suffers from edema in both legs, leg ulcers, weeping rashes, layers of dead skin like potato chips, etc. I spent eight months fighting a losing battle trying to keep the ailments at bay with a variety of different prescription creams and ointments. Dad's GP finally recommended we try an unna boot. He was going to have me bring dad into the office in so he could apply it there, but once I did a little research, I realized I could do this myself. I wrapped dad's feet and ankles after his Sunday shower, and kept them that way for a week. Come the next weekend I cut the bandages off and "wow!" Dad's wounds healed more in one week, than they had in the last six months. I repeated the process two more weeks, after which his skin looked 150% better. Due to dads age and circulatory issues, the problems with his legs are a chronic condition. He's never going to heal permanently. However, I've found I can keep his skin conditions to a modest level, by using the wrap for a couple weeks, in between every five or six weeks or so without. BEFORE YOU APPLY! The first YouTube video I found teaching how to apply this bandage was wrong. It was at a medical clinic no less, where the guy wrapped it like you would a typical ace bandage. I used the same technique and by mid-week Dads toes looked like balloons. I did some more YouTube research and finally found the proper way to wrap the bandage. When wrapping, you have to allow for swelling, especially at the feet and legs, particularly for seniors. The bandage material of this product has no elasticity. To compensate, you need to use an overlapping wrap technique where the wrap keeps doubling back, back and forth, along the top of the foot and leg. Look on YouTube. You'll know you have the right technique when you see it. You'll need to put something over the bandage since its impregnated with medication that will get all over everything if you don't. You can use a compression sock if you'd like. In my case, I use an Ace bandage. I wrap the Ace with modest tension so if swell occurs, it has enough give. If you or yours are dealing with chronic edema, skin ulcers, rashes, shedding dead skin like a snake, etc, and you've been fighting a losing battle so far, give this wrap a try. Based on my own experience, I highly recommend it.
