So I haven’t had to replace it yet and it has been a couple of months. So i would say it depends on how you are using it. **Q: Can this be put in the dishwasher?** A: We have several and they go through a steam cycle almost weekly in our dishwasher. We have several different items that we do at the same time. I have also boiled when a dishwasher isn't available **Q: Does it lather well like a loofah?** A: I think it lathers just as nicely and it doesn’t carry that musty smell. It’s easy to use and clean. It does not suds up as much as a regular bath pouf, but that should not deter you on using the product. It can hold a good amount of soap to use for your entire body. It rinses clean and has a loop where you can hang it to dry overnight. I see the benefits of using this over the bath pouf, for hygienic purposes. It would be great for travel, as it is small enough to pack and won’t take up space in your travel bags.I would say it is a small learning curve to using it. I’m right handed, so I have no issues holding it. For my left hand, I find that I end up using hand pressure instead of my fingers to hold it in my hand, so it gets slippery from the soap/water. I’m also not flexible so I have trouble washing my back, but that’s me.In regard to the exfoliation, it is gentle. I feel it is one level up from a regular bath pouf, comparable to a soft terry wash cloth, but doesn’t provide the deep cleansing experience using exfoliating spa gloves. If you’re looking for a deep exfoliation solution, this may not meet your expectations.Overall, I am happy with this purchase and will continue to use it in my bath routine. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Gentle and effective *by on Reviewed in the United States October 19, 2023* Like others, I bought this little scrubby to replace the plastic pouf loofah and it's been great for me! It creates a decent lather with my body wash and let's me use a little less. I use Aveeno body wash, which is pretty thick and creates a really thick lather on its own, so I didn't have any issues working up some suds. This scrubby doesn't create quite as voluminous a lather as the loofah did, but prefer it. The loofah would create such a thick lather that it took me too long to rinse the poof clean, wasting water. This body brush rinses quickly and cleanly, reducing the amount of water used while making for a more hygienic tool. I liked the handle just fine. You can easily slip your fingers around the stem of the handle or even grab the top of it like a knob if you're in a hurry. The stem is firm/stiff enough that it won't flop around as you work with it.One thing to keep in mind is that this is a very gentle tool. The bristles are really soft and great for sensitive skin. I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for something more abrasive. It won't really exfoliate. I'd recommend a homemade body scrub for that. Beware the plastic mesh exfoliating gloves that are super scratchy. They can be way too abrasive and cause skin/dermatitis issues. This brush won't do that, as the bristles are really suited for creating lather only. As an older woman, my skin has become suuuuper sensitive, becoming naturally thinner and more prone to injury. This brush won't injure or irritate thinning or sensitive skin and I've had zero issues. I rinse it well after use and clean it thoroughly with dish soap once a week.
