You just have to shave slower. it does cut pretty close, doesn't feel quite as close as one blade but it's not far off. As for the adapters, they are better fitting than one blade. Maybe if my beard was a little less heavy it would have tugged less. I think it's a pretty decent alternative. Not as good but it's a hell of a lot cheaper even if you only get 3 years out of it. I do not have this issue at all, it cuts my hair evenly and doesn't pool the hair at all.
