It smells strongly of barley and other grains, even more so the hotter the pad gets. It does the job as a heating pad and helps relieve some of my shoulder pain, but I just wish it didnt smell as much and would hold heat for longer. It is on the heavier side so sitting with it on my shoulders for a while is tiring. As mentioned, it does get moist when you heat it up, but its easy to just wipe away and doesnt bother me.
