Duct tape is what you reach for when you don't have time to do it right. Most of the time I'm reaching for Lexel, it's because I want to do it right. It's nice to have one sealant for a bunch of purposes. I live in a 200-yr old house with a barn we just redid. We sealed up all around the base of the barn to keep splashing back water from reaching the posts. Works great. One note: we had to reseal after we sprayed it with oil-based wood sealer. Whoops. If you're going to spray it with something afterward, go water-based if you can. It just got sticky and didnt' hold its shape like ti did before the spray.
