Review: Powerful cooler - I waited until the end of summer to leave my review, so I could have an idea of how this evaporative cooler would hold up after months of use. I live in So Cal, and specifically bought this for work. I work in a large outdoor booth without any kind of cooling. After several summers of suffering from sweltering heat, I finally decided to take the plunge and buy a portable swamp cooler. Initially I was hesitant, as a few hundred dollars is a lot to spend on something I’d likely only use for 3 or 4 months. But I am sooo glad I did! This cooler really does blow out cool air! I was surprised and delighted! The wheels glide across the concrete floor with ease, and the drain is easy to plug and unplug. I don’t have access to a hose, so I can’t attest to how the hose connector works. But it’s very easy to add water manually. And no leaks! You can also add small chunks of ice, although I don’t think using ice made much of a difference. Also, the little window showing the amount of water left in the tank is very convenient. Be prepared for the air flow being strong, and a bit loud. Even on low, which is the only setting I used. Being outdoors a little noise is not a big deal. But I think it might be too loud to use indoors. If I have one thing that’s negative, it’s that the latch on the manual fill door, which is only a tiny piece of plastic, broke after a couple of days. All in all, this portable cooler works great and was worth every penny!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will this unit work in southwest Florida where the humidity is high?**
A: No!! These are completely dependent on humidity differentials. I've read tons of reviews and background.

They'll work to some degree as long as the relative humidity is less than 100%, but you're probably better off with a non-evaporative cooler in Florida. They work like crazy in desert areas, but even then, they can only do a max of about 20'F difference from outside temp.

They might work okay in concert with a traditional central air system, since that actually de-humidifies the inside air. But I don't know.

**Q: How far does the air flow**
A: I have ours on low and it cools from the garage door to the home door on the opposite side of the room.  Very amazing

**Q: would this work in garage in AZ? no window. won't keep door open due to snakes.  suggestions for best model?**
A: If you can, create some inlet and outlet. If everything is closed, you'll evaporate some, however, it will recycle the moist air, since it does not have any way to dry. Ideally, create an opening, perhaps with some bug screen to keep snakes out and place the cooler in front. You'll also have to have a way to exhaust the moist air, the hot dry air will eventually be converted into some laundry room condition. That's why there should be an exhaust fan of some kind to expel the moist air. I am running the MC37M for almost five years in northern Arizona. Whilst the cooler is simple, it has some design flaws. We have water that has very high calcium contents. The moisture / calcium can cause built ups on the electrical connector and puff, cause problems. This type of water can also cause higher maintenance costs, ergo every year new pads, possibly new pump. Lots of calcium layer inside the tank and on outside casing etc.
In your case you might be better off with a window AC, but it always boils down to fresh air circulation.

**Q: can I use regular tap water for this product? How many hours does it work if I fill up the tank?**
A: Yes, tap water is fine. I take a one gallon jug and place in the fridge and when ready to use the cooler I empty it in the reservoir. I refill and place back into the fridge for next time. Immediate very cool air that last a while. I would say that about 3-4 hours on a tank before the pump starts sucking air.

It's got some noise and uses a fair amount of water per usage, but overall I am very pleased with how it cools! My only beef is that there is no shut off when the water runs out and therefore cannot be used at night. I wish I had know this and would have purchased the other model. I find the directions are lacking, and they need to be more specific on how it is used for indoors. We didn't realize you needed to use it with an open window and the house got so humid it was like a swamp, LOL! Then I had to do some research online and re-read the minimal instructions before I understood how to use it properly. ;)
