How Hot/Cold Packs Work Our HypaGel Reusable Hot/Cold Pack can be cooled in the refrigerator or freezer to create a cold pack ideal for use in cryotherapy. I like that they are reusable, and because they are gel, you can mould them around the problem areas. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Comfortable to wear, great value ice pack with sleeve - has helped my mousing elbow pain no end *by ***** on 16 February 2018* The sleeve is better then the gel pack, if I'm being honest, so I'll start there. It's comfortable to wear, for the short periods you'll be icing a joint anyway. It's also fairly easy to put on, even with one hand whilst strapping it around an elbow as in my case. Then there's the gel pack part of the equation which, really, is the most important part. It's OK. It does get nice and cold in the freezer, but beware leaving it in too long as it freezes solid as a rock and takes hours to get soft enough to use again. OK, you could defrost in hot water to get it back to a soft state more quickly I guess. I've found keeping it in the fridge, and then a quick 30 minute blast in the freezer works best. I haven't tried it hot yet, so cannot comment on that side of things. All-in-all then, there are better gel packs out there that have more anti-freeze in them (I assume) and stay softer when kept in the freezer.
