It has a nice sturdy marble base with little foam dots to protect your countertop and is heavy enough that the bananas won’t topple over. The wood is smooth and has a nice rich finish on it. I wanted a base that was heavy enough so the bananas would not tip over, plus the base is a faux-marble look which matches the colors of my kitchen. I was able to put it together in less than 5 minutes with no tools! Easy assembly! Ease of use is great as all you have to do is pick off a banana from the bunch which is hanging securely from the hook. It is great and my bananas last much longer AND no more bananas laying on the counter!
