Item arrived on time and did include a mermaid necklace as a "free gift". The yarn is 80% polyester and 20% spandex. The spandex is what gives the knit blanket a little stretch to it. The fact that the yarn is polyester with spandex is why only a low heat setting on the dryer can be used safely.The bottom "tail" portion of the blanket is open to allow your feet to poke out at the end of the blanket if you choose. This is different than some of the other mermaid tail blankets listed on Amazon where the body portion of the blanket is actually sewed shut from the tail fan. The body portion of this blanket is open at the back like a V shape and is not a closed tube. I tried to capture these details in the photos I've posted.I actually purchased a couple of these mermaid blankets to compare the differences between brands and sellers and have to say that it would not surprise me if all of these were manufactured at the same factory in China and then labeled differently by whichever vendor decides to flip them for sale directly to consumers. Very similar to my experience this past Christmas with hover boards / scooters. Even the mermaid necklaces accompanying my different blanket purchases were identical. I mention this because the price points of these blankets can vary and in my experience thus far, a 25$ blanket and a $50 blanket have no noticeable differences quality-wise. What I noticed is the crochet patterns used to make these mermaid type blankets can vary. For example, a detail I like on this item is parallel knotted crochet vertical lines that run up the left and right sides of the front of the blanket body (along your lap). The weave on this item is nice and tight (no peek-a-boos like you sometimes see when larger crochet needles are used). For the price, this is a nice, medium weight blanket that would comfortably fit up to an average sized adult. My 5'2" 125# daughter thought it fit comfortably; my 6'1" 165# son thought it fit OK; my 5'10" 210# husband thought it wasn't roomy enough for his build. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thumbs up *by R***A on August 14, 2016* What an adorable blanket. Any little girl would be happy to have this; any mermaid fan really.I was a little confused when making my order because the styles do not all specify if they are sized for adults or kids. I ended up selecting the purple one (which is more of a violet/pink,) that showed the necklace in the pictures; because I was not sure if it came with all of them, or just the one. I thought that was an adorable little extra for my 5 yr old though. The necklace itself is cheaply made, yet still adorable. The chain broke within a few minutes, but I easily put it back together. It broke a 2nd time and I took the mermaid part off and added it to a string of old pearls, which is still holding up nicely. Also purple/violet would be the color of choice for my little one anyway :)The one I ordered is an adult size, which is what I preferred. I figured the kids size would be outgrown, but the adult size will last a long time. The blanket is well made. (I think so anyway.) I'm no seamstress but it seems to have a strong knit. Because of the material it would be easy to pull the threads, and I can see piling being an issue in certain environments. Ours is in perfect condition though... and it's been used daily since it's purchase a little more than a month ago. And it's August lol. The fibers are nice and soft and being shaped like a mermaid's tail it is simply darling. The shape of the tail leaves a little to be desired for, but I'm fully aware this is not an actual mermaid tail lol it is fabric... that stretches and moves with the body... so if you move, the blanket will move.. I feel like this is obvious, but I've noticed a lot of reviews saying how it's not shaped like a mermaid tail lol I don't mean to offend any previous reviewers, but it is made of fabric so that should sort of be expected. The seller never garuntees that the tail is filled with cardboard (or starched to death) in order to keep shape. On the contrary there is an intentional hole at the bottom of the blanket; so if you chose to do so you could plant your feet on the floor, and the fin part would lay flat while covering the feet.Another thing to mention about this product:I'm not sure about the recommended washing instructions, but I've laundered it a few times now... in the washer/dryer. I wash it on a gentle/handwash cycle and dry it on wrinkle-free/fluff. No damage to report thus far.I think the price was fair for this... the blanket, necklace and shipping for less than 30 bucks. I got it through prime so shipping was free, but still a decent price.Though I would recommend this to others I feel it's important to mention something: There was a bit of a snafu with my original order. I placed the order on June 30th, and my eta was July 3rd. The 3rd came and went with no delivery. I checked the eta and oticed it changed to July 6th. I needed this for July 11th (a gift for my daughters commecment party.) Anyhow the 6th came and went with no delivery. I reached out to the company on July 9th, a d heard back from them on the 10th telling me to contact amazon because it had already shipped. I did as they said and was told that the package was probably lost during the shipping g process. So they refunded my money and I reordered. Eventually it did arrive, but it was about a week after the date I needed it by. It wasn't a huge deal or anything but it would have been nice to get it on time. In the end I did not take away any stars for that because it was not the fault of the seller, my money was returned and I got what I expected after it all. Also the necklace was a free gift with the blanket so I didn't take stars away for that either.Anyway I gave 5 stars because my daughter absolutely lovesssss this thing!I'd recommend for sure! I'm about 5ft and this blanket goes up to my forehead.
