## Description

Beautifully inlaid and designed, this Peruvian work of art is uniquely designed to reduce the sound of the snare wires when playing a bass tone. This allows the musician to get the optimal sonic characteristics of both a traditional Cajon and a flamenco Cajon. this gorgeous instrument is also one of the best-sounding Cajon available Anywhere. Its deep, resonant bass tones are awe-inspiring, but playing closer to the edges results in multiple levels of “snap” as the minimalist guitar string wires are engaged − resulting in some truly sublime effects. That’s because the wires are configured diagonally across the top corners of the Cajon for reduced snare sound while playing bass tones. An increased number of adjustable screws also results in greater control over snap and resonance. The seamless finish features Peruvian hardwood dovetailed corners with smoothly rounded joints. And individual multi-coloured wood tiles are arranged into a spectacular wooden mosaic. It’s all hand-made and meticulously tested by skilled Peruvian craftsmen in our Gon Bops Cajon Shop!.

After watching hours of cajon videos, seeing and hearing Alex Acuna play his Special Edition cajon was the clincher. This is a beautiful, masterfully hand-crafted musical instrument which should last a few lifetimes; it's almost too beautiful to sit on and hit! The sound is rich and full, with a clear and resonant bass tone that is not boomy at all. The tapa is very responsive and the snare wires are just right, straight out of the box. A truly wonderful cajon.The shipment was super (super!) fast - and "free". The Gon Bops cajon was packaged inside its case (nothing remarkable; it's just a case) which was inside a box, inside a larger box. There was no way this was getting damaged in transit. However, my beautiful cajon arrived with a few small flaws and some actual damage (see pictures). For the premium price, I expected an absolutely flawless instrument. Instead, I received what is obviously a returned purchase or factory second. Not a deal breaker but I just wanted to share my experience with potential buyers. I wish sellers and Amazon would be more honest about how they do business. If you're selling a used or returned item, SAY SO.

I chose this model after having tried numerous styles at Guitar Center, having bought a couple used from Craigslist and having played the one at our church. This one is the identical model to the church one and plays and sounds exactly the same... Deep and rich bass note and crisp clear treble notes, with a range in between. Responsive to a good whap or a delicate finger roll. Fit and finish are like a fine car. Beautiful shine you can see your face in. Sound hole is smaller than some models, even though this is a full sized instrument. Comes in a very nice padded case or gig bag. The case itself is very poorly designed. The handles are on the sides instead of the front, so when you set it down you have to rotate (roll) it 90 degrees in order to open the bag. Then it has one zippered slot but instead of opening a nice wide pocket is opens a little five inch wide pocket that isn't good for much more than putting your driver's license in! Certainly not large enough to stash sheet music or lyrics or any kind of hand instruments like clakers or finger shots.
