I am using a Pertonix ignition on my 68 Mustang and have no issues with using this tach. **Q: Tach needle is sitting at 1500 rpm, still in the box. shouldn't it be sitting at zero?** A: Hi. According to instruction sheet "The pointer on your tachometer will not always rest at zero when the engine is off. This is normal.When the engine is started, the pointer will register the correct RPM."
