Please explain?** A: My expectation is the reason has to due with the (air-volume VS. egg-volume) in the chamber (where the eggs are). Im just going to throw out arbitrary #s as I am a numbers guy. Lets say the chamber's total volume is 100 cm^3 (cubic centimeters), and an egg takes up 5 cm^3. If you have 1 egg then you have 95 cm^3 of air, and 5cm^3 of egg (= 100 cm^3 Total Chamber volume). This means you need to fill up 95% of that chamber with steam (takes lots of water). Now, if you have 12 eggs (12x5cm^3) then the chamber is comprised of 40cm^3 air, and 60cm^3 of egg. This means you need to fill up 40% of that chamber with steam (meaning you need less water than when you had one egg). Thats why I think you need less.... Basically the science is saying "When you have more eggs you have less air to fill with steam, so you dont need as much water to steamify that air and cook the food". My final thought is this, "If you used the same amount of water for 12 eggs, as you did for 1 egg, you would have too much steam and over cook the eggs". Please feel free to test this hypothesis. **Q: How long does it take to boil 12 eggs?** A: It depends on how you liked them boiled. If you want them completely hard boiled, then it's about 15-18 min. I like them softer, so it doesn't take as long. I love this egg cooker. I have given both the dashgo and the dash deluxe as gifts. Everyone loves it. It's so easy, I usually make eggs every other day. **Q: Can you take the top portion off and just make a smaller number of eggs on the bottom?** A: Yes you can take off the top portion to make any number of eggs. The less eggs you cook the more water is needed also. **Q: What accessories does it come with because it said you can cook an omlette?** A: A separate tray to make omelette as well as poached eggs. It also comes with a measuring cup with a tool to puncture the top of each egg. This has been one of the best purchases. Set the eggs and walk away until the buzzer goes off.
