That is what I did and it has worked well. It also includes small cables (HDMI and charging) if you opt to mount the Pi on the back. You also get two small speakers which are connected on the back. If you have a Pi 4 you have everything you need. If you have a Pi 3 (like me) you have have to email the manufacturer for #3 connector. In my case there was a card in box. I'd like to get the HDMI connector & USB connector for the Raspberry Pi 3B+3B. The card says there is no charge The (ELECROW Micro USB to USB A Adapter & HDMI Adapter). They were most helpful on that and shipped that immediately (I got it in two days). Everything worked in on mine: speakers, display, touch screeen. **Q: would it works with smartphone desktop mode?** A: If your phone supports USB to HDMI it works fine. I used on my Samsung 9 with a USB to HDMI adapter and both video and sound were good. **Q: Does this have a audio out? I will not be using it with a raspberry pie but as a simple secondary screen for inside my windows PC tower.** A: Yes. This one actually does what it’s supposed to do. Running it on Raspberry Pi 5 and Pi 4 for dashboards and SDR projects. Plugged it in and it worked immediately. Touch was recognized right away with no driver drama or calibration nonsense. Resolution is fine for this size and perfect for control panels, radar maps, stats, and terminal windows. Touch response is accurate and fast enough that I actually use it instead of a mouse. Build quality is better than expected. The metal frame feels solid and not toy-like. Stand is decent, and it’s easy to mount or integrate into other builds.
