Through the years, I have owned several different machines, including the equivalent of one of the rental machines you see at the store. I mean, it's not like the machines know if you're using a different solution other than the brand who manufactured the machine so technically yeah you can. However, the solution that's suggested for the machine does work a little better and I like how the solution contains a quick dry formula in it so the carpets dry much faster when I've used that. So this is not at all advised for others to try because well, like I said already, the manufacturer prefers that the same brand of cleaning solution is used, which is what I do every other time i clean my floors, but on the times in between using their brand of cleaner I make my own! I usually just use a combination of vinegar, blue dawn dish soap, peroxide and liquid fabric softener. I personally add 2 caps full of snuggle fabric softener into the actual water reservoir every single time I use it. It helps make my house smell good and keeps my carpets nice and soft too. But again, these little tips are not recommended by the manufacturer so try it at your own risk of you decide to do so. **Q: How easy is the brush assembly to take apart to clean? Great cleaning power and it is unbelievably easy to take apart and put back together for cleaning. A million bonus points for this - thank you Hoover designers!!🎖️ The parts are all plastic, but aren’t flimsy feeling at all. Suction is great in Dry Mode, so carpet isn’t soaking wet when you’re done. Feels sturdy. Same size as my vacuum and easy to store. There is no water overspray, so you can use is right next to furniture without having to move or cover. I bought this two years ago for quite a bit less than what it’s selling for now. I’ve used it 5 times. With that being said, I’d buy it at today’s price if I needed one. I just cleaned this rug today. Look at the difference! Keep in mind, this cleaner is not an instant fix.
