Very easy to put a barrel in. Be sure to twist the collar on the base unit to the lock symbol. The unit has a 2 level switch but no way to tell exactly what temperature it is. Trial and error are need to find the best setting for your hair. Removing the barrels is easy too. I turned off the unit and let it cool a bit. The glove provided is heat proof, and works well. Turn the collar to the unlock symbol, and give a tug on the barrel. It came right out! The variety of sizes and shapes makes this a versatile and affordable option for hair styling, and the overall length with barrel on is still under 12", so it's nicely portable. I got a neat little travel bag designed for the Dyson Airwrap that works well for this set. The power cord is a nice length, 5 or 6 feet!
