The KN-COPE-IC is a photoelectric smoke and carbon monoxide with the photoelectric technology for detecting smoke. The KN-COSM-IBA uses breakthrough technology to offer a fast response to real fires, including smoldering and fast-flaming, as well as protect you from carbon monoxide and dramatically reduce the chance of nuisance alarms. The Intelligent sensor technology combines the detection capabilities of an ionization smoke sensor – which is more likely to detect smaller, less visible fire particles, like those produced by flaming fires – with that of an electrochemical sensor, which is used to detect CO. This alarm only interconnects through a 3 wire circuit through wiring. The only hardwired unit that will work with the RF-SM-DC is the RF-SM-ACDC. If you require wireless alarms with carbon monoxide, you may need to change over to our P4010 wire-free smoke alarms and smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Our old ones started going out. They beep twice every 30 seconds. The dogs were terrified. So we took out the ones that died, found the replacement number on the back, and ordered new ones. Since our wiring was still in place from the old detectors, this was super simple and easy to do. Even better, they were originally going to take almost a month to arrive. Luckily they came in about two weeks. The wiring harnesses fit seamlessly and the mounting brackets were very easy to swap out. (Every test sets off every alarm in the system, and it is loud!)Suggestion for bifocal or progressive lens wearers: Grab your computer glasses; you're going to be right up top with the ceiling and the near-vision lens help prevent craning your neck.Final comment: I thought that carbon monoxide testers need to be relatively close to the floor, so I have kept the two detectors that were already installed in place.
