Follow directions for "taping" your tailgate in place (correctly positioned in height, and latched) BEFORE you remove the stock hinge bolts. This allows near perfect alignment of the Smittybilt hinge bracket, so you'll only have to insert and snug those outside edge bolts to lock it in enough to open and snug down the rest. Additionally, by loosening those six hinge bolts and using a wooden shim underneath, you can obtain a better closure alignment (centering the height of the latch), for years of trouble free tailgate closure.
