The product is great. It's got some fat, yeah, that's yummy stupid! Add your own flavor with a good salsa and chopped onions. They are pricey to purchase on amazon though. I get them at my pavilions for 8.99 each, and sometimes on sale for 5.99. Also, the ones I purchase are not frozen, but in the butchers fridge section, so maybe that makes a difference? Great quick weekday dinner with some warmed corn tortillas. I've purchased a pound of almost the same exact carnitas at local Mexican joint here in cali and paid twice as much, and this item was just the same. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Out of this world delicious! *by C***O on Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2020* I absolutely love Del Rio products starting with their carnitas, arroz & beans. Tamales are not too bad either. Authentic & delicious! Pay no mind to the negatives. Much better than Chipotle plus where else can you get two meals for $8. Recommended. ### ⭐⭐ The carnitas are not too fatty, but meat seems to have too much retained water in it, even after reheated *by H***E on Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2016* Del Real Carnitas can be tasty when re-cooked in a hot oven or fry pan. But I have noticed that the meat, which appears to be good quality shoulder butt, is literally PUMPED FULL OF WATER. Yes, it's not fat that makes this meat so soggy when warmed up straight out of the package. I recently tried heating about ten ounces in my toaster oven, without burning it, for a very long time - perhaps an hour. And it was strange that no amount of heating appeared to get the excessive moisture out of the meat. My personal conclusion is that there is, without a doubt, more to this product than just a good shoulder butt, deep fried until it is golden browned, and vacuum sealed. Even a slow-roasted (not fried) product could not retain this amount of moisture - and it can't be cooked out. I appreciate other opinions on this product.
