I don't have any other wool dryer ball brands to compare these to, but I am wondering if a) this is an inferior brand or b) wool dryer balls have gotten more hype than they deserve. I don't have an answer to that yet.Here's what I know about my bag of dryer balls:1) from the beginning, I've never noticed any reduction in drying time, and I always use all 6 balls, even with very small loads of lightweight clothing...same amount of dry time in my observation.2) pilling of the dyer balls. Are they supposed to pill up after second use? I tried removing the pilling, but it kept happening, so I gave up and just used them as is. They don't seem to add any fuzz to the clothing being dried, so I tolerate this pilling.3) static: I've not noticed static reduction. Once in a while they have mild static even with the dryer balls, but for years I've done laundry without any dryer products (sheets, balls, etc. and I typically only have static on synthetics or during extreme dry/cold seasons, so I cannot tell if these balls are making any benefit here).4) softness: I think we might be getting a slight benefit from the dryer balls on this point. But it could just be that we bought brand new softer towels the same week we bought the wool dryer balls...it is hard to say.5) wrinkles: I think we might be getting benefits from the wool dryer balls on this point. But occasionally clothes still come right out of the dryer with little bits of wrinkling. I think it is more about which fabrics we're talking about on this point.6) Essential Oils and wool dryer balls: Just going to put this comment out there. "WHY?" Why would anyone add essential oils to dyer balls and toss them into any HEAT setting. Essential oils are heat sensitive, that is why people recommend COOL AIR/MIST DIFFUSERS, so before I knew this, I did try using EOs on the wool dryer balls, but the heat caused the smell to change and dramatically fade away too, causing me to use drops every time I put in another load...and still the clothes in that fresh batch didn't seem to benefit from the EO by the time the dryer quit running and the clothes cooled down.In all, I have felt like wool dryer balls are a mediocre "okay" product that MAY OR MAY NOT soften clothes and reduce wrinkles. I have not observed any obvious or easily noticeable major changes in my clothing from using them. So if you're looking for some "miracle product" that will totally transform your laundry experience, this claim seems in my experience to be "hyped up and overrated". I'm not experiencing any negative problems or effects on the clothing by using the dryer balls, but in nearly five months or so of constant use for a family of five, I have yet to see anything obviously miraculous or life-changing about this product. So I probably won't purchase this again, but since I already own them, we will continue to toss them in the dryer and use them in the event that they have mild benefits for issues with wrinkles, softness and static.Please note, I always use a natural detergent that does not have dyes, fragrances, phosphates or any brightener additives that cling to fabrics for light reflection. My clothes always come out completely clean without odor or fragrance. So far I am thrilled with the product. My clothes are getting dried quicker and I love the "hung on the line but not crunchy" feel to them. They are static free and as soft as I want them without feeling like they have a softener build-up or residue on them. Best of all....now my laundry routine is chemical free too.
