Review: Durable and comfortable - This is a really nice floor mat for exercising because it is thicker than most so when you lie down on it you don’t feel the hard floor so much.

I also read a lot of reviews that said that the mats had a foul odor. I am happy to report the mat that just arrived has barely any discernible odor, just slightly plastic. It is of great quality is slightly thicker than most mats (most are 1/8 to 1/2 inch). It is very comfortable to work out on and I am very happy with the quality.

**Q: How thick is this mat?**
A: It is 1.5 cm, slightly less than 5/8" thick.

**Q: Is mat phalate free?
Does it contain toxic metals?**
A: Most Balanced Body equipment I have contains a warning that it includes cancer causing materials. I can’t speak to the specifics.

**Q: Does this mat hurt your knees when you exercise?**
A: No.  It is soft and spongy.  A great Pilates mat.  However I do not have problems with my knees generally.

**Q: Does this mat stretch if in downward dog?**
A: I don’t know if stretch is the correct word, but I find it difficult for my feet to grip the mat when in downward dog.

Update - I actually like it much better now that I’ve used it for a few weeks. Great cushion and more supportive than I originally thought. I do put it on top of another mat that keep it from moving around. Old review. It is too stretchy and moves under my feet when doing different moves for Pilates and stretching afterwards. I’m disappointed that I wasted my money.
