The tubing is made from flexible polyethylene with an internal layer of special thermoplastic adhesive. The heat-shrinkable outer wall is selectively cross-linked, while maintaining the high flow and excellent adhesion of the inner sealant liner. When heated in excess of 121 deg C (250 deg F), the tubing rapidly shrinks to a skintight fit, forcing the melted adhesive lining to flow and cover the substrate. Since 4/0 cable is typically just under 1/2" and the 3/4" HS shrinks down to 1/4" at a 3:1ratio you should be fine **Q: Is this the right size for 2 gauge? Thanks** A: For 2 gauge wire you'd want to use the 3/4" shrink tube **Q: Is this the correct size for 1/0 AWG cable?** A: im using it for 2/0 battery cable and it works perfect, it has right at a 4:1 shrink ratio. i tested it on a sharpie and it took a while but i got it there once i broke my torch out. a lighter just wont do the job with this. but to answer your question yes this will work for 1/0. but i think 3/4 shrink wrap would work as well. **Q: What is the inner diameter of this 1" tubing before shrinking? I got the 1.5" in black and with proper heat it does shrink down to nearly 1/2" (outer diameter about 5/8" give or take a little). Longitudinal shrink is almost zero, which is great. Good proper amount of glue as well.Photo is of the 1.5" black TEMCo along with some 2" clear from XHF brand. The clear was advertised as having glue, but it has none (I think the standard colors do, though), but both of these perform great. If TEMCo had any 2" I'd buy it from them because they're a great outfit to support. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Works As Advertised *by J***3 on Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2019* I have ordered several different sizes of this tubing in various colors, and found it all to be a quality product. Easy to work with and shrinks and seals well. As some other customers have indicated, the tubing arrived coiled up in a small package, which resulted in several kinks in the tubing. However, I immediately straightened it out and squeezed the kinks back to a round shape. None of them stuck closed, so the whole tube was useable. I ordered the 1/2 inch size as an experiment. I have several pairs of old, American made (i.e. quality steel) pliers and wire cutters that have bare metal handles. I wanted to put a rubber cover on them to improve grip and insulate them. I tried the liquid plastic dipping goop, and it worked, but was slow, messy and took many dippings for any significant coverage. So, I slipped the 1/2 inch tubing over the handles, heated it up and now have nice, neat covers that are durable and smooth. The adhesive lining sticks to the tools so there is no slip and no coming off.
