The cool thing about these pumice ledges is that They function as a way to offer some options for additional surfaces to hang on while doubling as health management devices allowing the rats to wear down their incisors. They look sharp with various colors and they're easy to install. Durability depends entirely on the chewing activity of the pets. My younger boys chew them frequently (blue pic); my older girls use them more like a perch and don't do a whole lot of chewing on them (pink pic). The are a perfect size for small to medium-large rats. Big chunky rats can use them, but they aren't quite as comfortable for HUGE rats. In either case, they are great adds and we buy them as they wear them out. It's just part of their home amenities! You can clean them, and should do so for the ones that seem to stick around; but they are affordable enough to be part of their replacement routines. Can't go wrong here.
