The bars are lightweight wood, the frame is also very light weight and the connectors plastic. Height of each bar is completely adjustable to fit small to adult dancers. The screws to hold each bar in place are effective but I’m careful to only tighten them just enough; the plastic and screw combination makes me extra careful about not cracking the housing. It was easy to slowly adjust the tension to her weight and no problems with it for the months we’ve had it. This is not a heavy duty barre, but an excellent and portable barre nonetheless.
