I installed this on the road after getting a flat with a regular tube. This tube also went flat after 1/2 a mile. It wasn't the tubes fault, the tire had a cut in it and I should have protected the tube from the cut. Later I patched the tube but I filled it with air before installing back in the tire. That was a mistake, don't do that. This tube expanded so much that the tube split open and was ruined. All my fault. Lessons learned. I bought another new tube and tire and it has been good since. Been on many rides, no issues. Review: I bought instead of the Butal tubes which were good too. - These are fantastic ! Unlike butal tires that looses 20 psi every 24 hours. These just dont lose ANY AIR ! UTTERLY FANTASIC!. Now, I see people having trouble installing these. Well I come from a butal tube background that is slippery as all get out so I've learned how to install butal tubes and these aren't any differant. I DO NOT partially inflate. That my friends is bad advice. I also use corn starch to install tubes AND TIRES. They just slip on, well most of the time. DON'T INFLATE AND DON'T TWIST THE TUBES. For goodness sakes put the wheel on ur lap and install the tube & tire the easy way. And don't forget the corn starch. I actually have a dry paint brush that I use to "paint" the corn starch on the inside of the tire and I put corn starch in a zip lock bag and put the tubes inside and shake the heck out of it until the tube is coated with corn starch. Then and only then do I start my tire install. It usually slips on without any tools. WITHOUT ANY TOOLS! when I carry spare tubes with me on my rides they are wrapped in thier own corn starched zip lock bags ready to do their job when the time comes. Take ur time and do it right. It's a sucky job and u don't want to do it twice, or 3x if u really scew up (if u dont check the inside of the tire 4 sharp objects). Do this for yourself and avoid the aggravation when a flat takes place. USE CORN STARCH ! I will buy more of these particularly for the rear wheel because these are almost 2 oz lighter. Less weight easier to turn over. One more thing, I use these on rim brake wheels without any problem. I know some poly tubes will melt if used on rim brakes due to excessive heat. but these tubes seems to handle warm to hot rims during excessive braking. The SmarTUBE has a 60mm stem. The valve cores are not removable, so if you need an extension to the stem, it will have to be a harder-to-find Cap or Synchronous external extension. Also, the stem is plastic and not threaded for a retainer nut, so if it is a marginally usable length with your wheel, care must be taken that the stem doesn't get pushed down into the rim when adding air. This one worked for getting home, but will end up as a take along spare, and I will need to find either a removable core TPU tube, or one with an 80mm stem, or stick with butyl or latex tubes. **Q: can this be used on disc brakes?** A: This is just the tube that goes inside the tire. The brake type does not matter (rim vs disc). You can use it on either. **Q: Can't this be used on a 23mm tire** A: This may sound counter intuitive but a wider tire would actually reduce your rolling resistance by 10% and using these tubes will help even more. Back on the tires 23 are good but using either 25-28 will be better because you can drop pressure from 124psi on a 23 down to 94psi on a 25 tire. **Q: How do you patch these tubes?** A: Pirelli (and Schwalbe) TPU tubes can be patched with the TPU-specific patch kit that Tubolito sells. The glue takes 30 min to dry, so don't count on it for a quick roadside repair. The patch is basically a little piece of the same material as the tube. You also need to use an alcohol prep to clean the tube first, a few are included in the kit. Park Tool says their testing showed that their glueless patches would stick to a Schwalbe Aerothan TPU tube. First they are very light and packable. I am using them on my racing bike because I feared that less expensive options would not have the same quality. After racing and riding a few hundred miles on them I don’t think they head and shoulders above less expensive options but they are still a great product. They retain air so much longer than latex tubes even at higher pressures. I would recommend them but at an equal level of less expensive options. Update: They punctured very easily which caused me to abandon a race. I can no longer recommend these tubes.
