## Questions & Answers

**Q: How would you describe the Kona blend in coffee terms?**
A: This is great coffee! Full bodied, medium roast. Still very robust at a 12oz cup. This coffee surpasses many , much higher priced coffee that we have tried. The only thing I have found that I like almost as much as
Casa Trail Kona blend is Starbucks Pike Place roast. You can't beat the price of this Kona blend!

**Q: Is Casa Trail Coffee made in the United States ?**
A: According to their blog, Sturm foods (based in Chicago) was purchased and eventually became part of Bay Valley Foods of North America. It appears that Bay Valley's production facilities are mostly in the US (their products are produced and processed in the US) according to their web site. The coffee maybe grown worldwide depending on the blend, but processed and packaged in the US.

**Q: I love Pumpkin spice coffee but k cups I found only GM & it's an extra light roast. Can anyone tell me if this is stronger coffee and flavor than GM?**
A: Yes, I find this brand stronger than Green Mountain. Hope this helps! :)

**Q: How is the breakfast blend? how is the kona blend? all the reviews are mixed together, just wondering how these two flavors specifically are. thanks**
A: You can't go wrong with Caza Trail regardless of the blend.... IMHO. I only drink Kona. I like the deep but smooth taste. When I am not feeling like my french roast I go for the lighter Kona. If you have had Kona before and liked it I believe you will be happy with it!

Caza Trail is Best K-Cup Value; we like Coastal > Kona > Medium >> Dark

*by K***R on Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2017*

Caza Trail is the Best K-Cup Value on Amazon and Coastal Blend is the Best Flavor. It's unfortunate that Amazon lumps all Caza Trail reviews together so if you are looking for reviews on a particular flavor you have to do a lot of digging. We have now tried 4 of the flavors that are available as 100 ct packs, which are the only ones we buy because of the price per ct. My wife and I agree (not always the case) that our preference is Coastal Blend > Kona Blend > Medium Roast Bold >> Dark Roast. We haven't tried Donut Shop or Breakfast Blend because we rarely prefer competing brands with those flavors. Please note that we usually use some dairy in our coffee and we prefer a blend that stands up to that, preferably with some additional flavor cutting through. I think the Dark Roast probably works for people who only drink coffee black or who like a really mild blend. The Dark Roast has no bitterness, which could be a good thing for black coffee but it means it is overwhelmed even by 2% milk (we like whole milk or half and half, but will go with 2% in a pinch). However you take your coffee, the Medium Roast is probably a good flavor to start with. It's definitely middle of the road and the reference to Newman's own is good, although I would say Caza Trail is better. Coastal blend has the same body as Medium Roast but with additional flavor that we find really appealing. I drink from large mugs and often and up mixing caffeinated and decaffeinated coffees. I find both the Coastal and Medium Roast blend well with each other and with other coffees I like. For me, that's the difference between the Coastal and Kona blends. Both have that distinctive extra flavor, but the Kona is more of a light aromatic acidity that while distinctive, doesn't really blend well with other coffees I like. If you only drink one flavor at a time, the Kona would be fine.Which brings me to the reason that Caza Trail is the Best K-Cup on Amazon. It's the only reasonably priced conventional K-Cup that has both good flavor and enough coffee per K-Cup to make a strong 12 oz coffee. Most Keurig coffee makers have a choice of sizes. Most often that works out to 6 oz, 8 oz, and 10 oz. I find that many K-cups make a strong enough small cup, but really can't go beyond the 8 oz size. All of the Green Mtn coffees not labeled "Bold" are essentially that way. But the ones they label as "Bold" or "Extra Bold" have more coffee per K-Cup. ALL of the Caza Trail Coffee's would be labeled as "Extra Bold" under this system. There is definitely the same amount of coffee in all of them, even though only the Medium Roast has Bold in the name. (That's so you know to compare it to Newman's Own, I think.)So why do I say you get a 12oz cup not a 10 oz cup. Well, try it yourself. if your machine has three settings, make a comparison between a cup made with the largest setting (10 oz) versus one made by using the small (6 oz) setting twice. You'll see that giving the grounds more time to soak in the water from the first small shot ends up providing extra non-bitter flavor for the second shot. It's the same reason that pour-over (manual) Malita coffee makers have you wet the grounds, pause, and then continue to pour your hot water. My experience is that 2, 6 oz shots produces both a larger AND a better tasting cup than a single 10 shot. Finally I say that Caza Trail is the best "conventional" K-Cup on Amazon because in terms of flavor and price, the San Francisco Bay coffees, particularly the Fog Cutter and French Roast, are just as good WHEN THEY ARE FRESH. My problem with the eco-friendly packaging of the SFB coffee is that I love variety and I just can't seal the bags long enough to keep the SFB coffee fresh. I know I should love creating less landfill waste (actually I burn the SFB cups so it's basically zero land fill waste) and I would if I was willing to drink one flavor at a time (and I could get my wife to do the same). It could be quibbled that SFB also has less coffee per k-Cup and so is more like a good regular than a good bold coffee. That's true, but I would still go with 8 oz cups of SFB over 12 oz cups of CT if they were all as good as they are when you first open the bag (so fresh). But for me the lack of shelf life makes it not even close. Caza Trail is better.

Best tasting Colombian K-cup coffee we've tried so far, and one of the cheapest!

*by G***G on Reviewed in the United States on March 17, 2018*

I'm not one to leave mass reviews for all the products I order. But when I'm especially impressed (or disappointed) in an item, I like to take the time to pass on my thoughts. In the case of this Caza Colombian coffee, I am especially impressed! I just made my first cup, and by halfway through I knew I wanted to spread the news!I love coffee...always have. Any brew I drink is always black/no sugar. I'm a retired police officer, and years ago when I worked late-watch, I consumed some terrible coffee (think convenience-type store where coffee has been on the burner for hours!). My point is, all these years of drinking black/no sugar coffee doesn't necessarily make me an expert, but it does provide me with a massive database of tastes for comparison's sake. This Caza Colombian is easily in the top 5, maybe top 3 coffees I've had (right up there with Starbuck's Pike Place and Gevalia Whole Bean Colombian...right after being freshly ground). My wife and I drink a lot of coffee (especially on weekends), and for years we resisted getting a K-cup machine, thinking it wouldn't be as cost-effective as our typical whole-pot approach. We recently ordered a Hamilton Beach Flex Brew here on Amazon, and love the machine! (But that's a story for another review.) Since then, we've run the gambit of different flavored coffees and blends, but our typical go-to brew has always been a good Colombian. (For comparisons-sake, when making full pots, our fave whole-bean Colombian is that Gevalia mentioned above, and for ground coffee we like Maxwell House Colombian.)After discovering the pleasure of being able to mix and match our brews from cup to cup, we're definitely hooked on the K-cup method! As a result, the quest for the best-tasting, yet cost-effective cups began. That's what led me to pull the trigger on these Caza cups. The reviews were great, but I was still a bit leery of potentially being stuck with 100 cups if we didn't like them. Considering the fantastic price, the risk was worth it.Wow, what a find!! The gamble paid off big time! Other reviews mentioned the quantity per cup, which was another deciding factor, as my wife drinks her brew with cream/sugar, and we both typically use large mugs or travel cups. So some other lighter-filled cups end up a bit on the weak side, even for me with nothing added. Not the case with these Cazas! I'm drinking out of a 13 oz. mug (filled to about 12 oz.) now, and the taste is very rich, not watered down at all. The aroma while brewing is what first caught my attention. Like any decent coffee, the aroma is one of the first indications of a good brew! The body of this coffee is what I'd call a "medium". A good dark brown color, instant rich taste on the first sip, no "acidic toungue-feel", and absolutely no bitter aftertaste. The sip finishes as smooth as it starts! (Again, I don't consider myself a coffee-snob, but just trying to convey in words how pleasant a brew this stuff really is!)Bottom line? If you like a good, smooth Colombian coffee that is perfectly balanced black/no sugar, but still has enough strength to absorb some creamer without becoming too weak, or brew a larger-than-typical mug or travel mug while maintaining all its flavor, this coffee is for you!We will definitely be ordering more of this, as the 100 cups we just took delivery on will surely go quickly!

Great coffee, NOT a great orice

*by K***N on Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2024*

I really enjoy this very smooth great tasting coffee. When I started my subscription, it was about $46/100 K-cups. However that price is now nearly doubled! I had to cancel my subscription. I'm not spending over $75 for the same coffee!
