Very dense material on top, with rubber bottom so it doesn't slip. I am not a gamer, I bought it as I like a mouse pad that is table wide. I do not like small pads that tend to move here and there, plus it protects the table below from the laptop legs. The only drawback I can see is that I wish it was 400mm wide instead of 300mm.
