FullSix carbon fiber begins with carbon molds and pre-impregnated carbon fiber ("pre-preg carbon") which is carbon fiber fabric that is saturated with epoxy resin and must be carefully stored in sub-zero temperatures. Pre-preg carbon is stronger, lighter and more consistent than non-pre-preg carbon fabric (which has resin applied during the production process). To create bodywork, the pre-preg carbon is vacuum-bagged, autoclaved and clear-coated. The vacuum-bagging process uses suction to make the pre-preg carbon conform exactly to the shape of a part mold. The molded part is placed in an autoclave (pressure cooker) and subjected to carefully calibrated heat/pressure to cure the part. The end result is a perfectly shaped carbon fiber part that uses an absolutely minimal amount of epoxy resin. Finally, a perfect finish is accomplished by the part being sanded, sprayed twice with clear-coat and baked in an oven.
