I wanted a probe that would not be too flexible because of the hard, dry clay soil in my area. This one does not bend easily since it is thicker than most. Unfortunately, the thicker rod is also harder to insert in the ground because of the amount of soil it has to displace. ## Features - PROFESSIONAL SOIL PROBE: The Smart Stick is a high end professionally made tool – built to provide you with a tool that you can rely on every time you are out locating septic tanks, underground pipes, water mains, etc. - RUGGED DESIGN: The Smart Stick features a heavy duty steel design for easy penetration and withdrawal. No matter how hard or frozen the ground is, this probe is designed to resist bending or breaking. - YELLOW HANDLE: The steel soil probe comes with a bright yellow handle for comfort and visibility. It is built from 1x11" solid steel. - GARDENING TOOL: The sturdy soil probe is the perfect tool for irrigation and cultivation in your garden or farm. This steel soil probe makes a great addition to your soil testing tool set or gardening set. - JOB SITE TOOLS: The Smart Stick is an essential tool for underground pipe detection and damage prevention. Drive the probe into the ground to locate the pipe or septic tank before you begin digging. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B00W5PGYF8 | | Best Sellers Rank | #374,688 in Patio, Lawn & Garden ( See Top 100 in Patio, Lawn & Garden ) #71 in Soil Sample Probes | | Color | Blue | | Customer Reviews | 4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars (12) | | Date First Available | April 17, 2015 | | Item Package Quantity | 1 | | Item Weight | 6.44 pounds | | Item model number | TPA48-X7 | | Manufacturer | T&T Tools, Inc. | | Package Dimensions | 48 x 4 x 2 inches | | Part Number | TPA48-X7 | | Size | 48 Inch | ## Images ![T&T Tools 48-Inch Smart Stick Metal Soil Probe – 7/16" Hex Rod, T-Handle - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51dTSIPJUkL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Size** options. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great probe *by G***N on November 28, 2024* Use to make all my probes not anymore these are awesome ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thick and Rigid *by B***Z on December 12, 2022* I wanted a probe long enough to reach my septic tank leach lines so I could build a fence without penetrating the lines. I wanted a probe that would not be too flexible because of the hard, dry clay soil in my area. This one does not bend easily since it is thicker than most. Unfortunately, the thicker rod is also harder to insert in the ground because of the amount of soil it has to displace. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent, heavy duty soil probe *by P***A on February 18, 2022* This probe is quite heavy (7/16" diameter probe), but it has turned out perfect for probing deeper (over 20 inches) in heavy, clay soil. The thickness makes the probe stiff and better for probing heavy soils. I dulled up the pointed end slightly on a grinder so I did not damage the PVC septic lines I was probing. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.hr/products/35356851-t-and-t-tools-48-inch-smart-stick-metal-soil](https://www.desertcart.hr/products/35356851-t-and-t-tools-48-inch-smart-stick-metal-soil) --- *Product available on Desertcart Croatia* *Store origin: HR* *Last updated: 2026-10-22*
