I watched a squirrel walk/hop across them as if they weren't there. Birds sit on them too. It does slow down raccoons but it doesn't stop them. Don't waste your money on them. **Q: Can I use these bird spikes anywhere to keep critters away?** A: Yes, I installed it on the wall in the backyard of my house and it seems to be very useful, so I also bought their another colors, total 2 colors, which is great! **Q: Is this spikes strong?** A: The spikes are strong but if it's for cats they just walk right on them. Didn't work for me at all. **Q: How many are in the box?** A: There are 22 12" segments in the box. Each segment is 2" wide and 1.5" high.
