Review: Great Product, ignore the paint snobs who knock the detail - I recently purchased four of these packs, two here on desertcart, and two from a local game store. I paid $6 more for the ones from the game store than the ones I purchased here. I am dumbfounded by the people who say these miniatures are not well painted with poor details. They must be paint snobs who paint their own figures spending hours on each, because I thought these were fantastically painted and the details are relatively clear. Some do look better than others, but overall I will not complain, especially since I thought the price was fair. I will list each miniature of the four packs I purchased. Box #1 - desertcart Purchase Pegasus (Large figure) Green Hag (Medium figure) Mane (possibly Hane?) Demon (Small figure) Southern Halfling Female Bard (Small figure) Box # 2 - desertcart Purchase Ogre Mage (Large figure) Wraith (Medium figure) - this figure was also translucent and awesome looking! Rock Gnome Female Wizard (Small figure) Southern Halfling Female Bard (Small figure) Box # 3 - Game Store Purchase Wyvern (Large figure) Bugbear (Medium figure) Mindflayer (Medium/Small figure?) Quickling (Small figure) Box # 4 - Game Store Purchase Pegasus (Large figure) Green Hag (Medium figure) Mane (Possibly Hane?) (Small figure) Southern Halfling Female Bard (Small Figure) Out of four boxes I got two boxes with the exact same contents, but they were purchased from two different places. Still I find this odd considering these are supposed to be blind completely random boxes. Yes it can happen, but what are the chances? Overall I enjoyed my purchase and will continue to buy more in the future. If I get more of the exact same combination boxes again I will write about it and will adjust my review accordingly.
Review: Great Mini's - Ok so I got the Icon of the realms booster box, and the Icons of the realms starter set in the mail today. I have to say that these are pretty well done mini's. The blind booster box comes with 4 random minis, and mine had a Halfling Thief, a Frost Giant, an Elven Guard, and a Bugbear, which equates to 1 large, 2 medium, and 1 small base. The Starter set is 6 non-random minis, included in all starter sets are Drizzt Do'Urden, Sun elf Mage, Northlands fighter, Human ranger, Female dwarven warrior, and a Halfling thief. 5 Mediums, and 1 small base. These are the exact same size as the old mini's. So the new art style is completely different than the old sets. I have to say its not better or worse from what i've seen, it's just different. The brown bugbear is the new one, and the Grey Bugbear is from the older sets of D&D mini's line. Surprisingly the best looking mini has to be the Frost Giant, it has great details, and the paint is very well done. Also the best looking mini in the starter set is the Sun elf mage. Her fireball is opaque but has some detail painting done that makes it stand out. I did notice in the Starter Set that they spent way more time painting the details, and they used a better paint as the quality of these minis are above the boosters level, since you can see them trough the package. It looks like the Minis in the booster did not get as much time spent on painting the details, but the casting and designs of the minis are very good overall. So here is a price per mini if you buy from desertcart. 1 booster $14.99(free shipping) price per mini $3.74 per mini 8 boosters $89.99(free shipping) price per mini $2.81 per mini (if you buy 8 normally its $114, but there are sellers on desertcart offering 8 for $89.99) I also looked up the Reaper bones line, and most individual minis go for $4.50-$7.00 each. There are a few cheap ones, but if you want alot of minis these are the best bang for your buck. So Overall I have to say these minis are better than the old Dungeons and Dragons line of minis, and are better quality than the pathfinder line because these are made from a different plastic.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How many miniatures are in each package**
A: 4 Miniatures per package. it will always have 1 large mini, and the other 3 can vary in size.

**Q: Do these by chance have cards that are compatible with the old D&D Minis game? Or is there a site with stat cards?**
A: No they don't.

**Q: Does wizkids still make this set?**
A: Yes

**Q: For someone new to mini collecting, is this a good expansion to begin with? i'm in search of basics + newer stuff. if not plz suggest :)**
A: It's a blind box, meaning you won't know what you'll get until you open it. It has most of the more common npcs and is a good step into creating a collection. The figures look nice, are of great production, and are great for table top gaming.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent miniatures and a solid value, take horror stories with a grain of salt.
*by T***N on September 8, 2014*

First box I purchased came with a silver dragon (large), two heroes (small), and a monster (small). Second box I purchased was packed with a red and bronze dragon (both large), a hero (small), and a monster (small). Of course, this is luck of the draw, but each box guaranteeing atleast one large miniature maxes this a fair value. The miniatures themselves look excellent. Having looked over various customer photos online (typically close-ups), I was worried I would get a mixed bag when it came to quality but decided to order anyway. All of the figures I've received (including those that came in the Icons of the Realm Starter Set, have excellent paint jobs employing painting techniques uncommon $15.00 6" action figures. Dry brushing is mostly spot on, accents are well-used, palettes are vibrant, and even the washes have been applied with light hand that still draws out depth. Aside from the red dragon having wings folded a little more than I care for (easily remedied without damaging the figure or paint by gently bending), all of the miniatures are damage-free, flexible enough to allow play, yet solid enough to maintain poses while stored. I'll be picking up atleast a few more boxes of this line to fill out my collection more before picking up individual pieces at my local game shop for the rarer figures I'm after. Couldn't be happier with these products, I'd recommend getting atleast one box to see if you feel they're worth your investment.
