So I starting searching for something else to try. There really are very few choices once you start looking. I had even tried a plant based detergent on other items recently and I can't tell you the clothes are clean after the load is done. Using my regular liquid detergent for my regular clothes and having to switch at some point as well, I discovered the trick to using a powder detergent - you MUST make sure it dissolves completely BEFORE you start the load!!! So, I had faith in this. Filled my tablespoon and it came out slowly and I dropped it into the cold water and stirred. Guess what? There are rock hard chucks that absolutely refused to dissolve floating around the drum! I got a small laundry cup and put some fairly warm water in it - around 1 inch - fished out the chunks and put them in the cup. They dissolved immediately. Feeling better, I let the load run its course. After I put them in the dryer, they came out smelling fairly strong (from the heat) and I laid them out to finish air drying. My results/conclusion: 1. It has a scent even though it says it's unscented. It is NOT bad, just smells clean and when the items were completely dry, there was hardly any smell left over at all. 2. This stuff actually works!! Not only are the pillowcases clean - it removed facial oil stains that have been there (and dried in there) for YEARS!!!! Could not believe it. This is an awesome product and I highly recommend it!! (Side note: Again, as a first time user, figuring out what product is what when all the bottles look alike is frustrating. Liquid, darks, scented, unscented and original and in at least 3 sizes each; make sure you end up with the product you wanted in your cart.) It really does clean my personal items well and seems to extend their lifespan since they never go in the washer or dryer. So do not use this product on wool. Either use a product specifically for wool, or use a shampoo that does not contain conditioner. Baby shampoo works very well. **Q: can I use it for bras?** A: Yes! It's perfect! I've been using Forever New powder for years with my expensive French bras (wash by hand and line dry after every wearing) and they last for years, so not so expensive in the long run. (I NEVER put them in the washing machine!) I think the scent is very mild and fresh - I like it. **Q: About how many loads of wash will one get from a 32oz bottle?** A: Gosh, I really haven't counted, but it is a LOT. We have a front-loading washing machine so I usually just put a heaping capful in, and the cap, as you can see, is not particularly deep. For hand wash in a bathroom sink, just a teaspoon or less is all it takes, so the stuff lasts a good long time. Since the bottle contents goes by weight and the soap powder is light, i'd venture to guess you'd get over 32 uses. I love this stuff! A clerk at Nordstrom's lingerie dept. recommended it--they sell it there-- and she was correct about how great it is. Also, I only wash my undies on the Delicates cycle, with bras in a zippered wash bag, and I NEVER put any of it in the dryer. It's is too hard on the elastic.
