I filled both of theirs up with pencils, erasers, pens, markers, colored pencils, & pretty much anything they'd need to complete any homework assignments. They fold up so you can store them under your car seat if you wanted to. Our kids use them at home & in the car for multiple uses. They do homework on them, eat on them (only at home), & a whole bunch of other things. It's great when you have errands to run & the kids need to come along. This way they can still get work done. We're planning a road trip soon & I'm sure this'll come in handy. We're even taking it on a plane since it folds up so nicely. Definitely recommend it! I bought two for wheel chair bound friends, one for my sister whose husband quickly took it, and three for me --- I use them to keep drawing and watercolor supplies in as I watch TV and doodle, or sit outside and draw, and use as a book prop and storage for reading in the home office (one in each location). And I use them to eat off of. Really cool products. This is not just a product for kids. And maybe a black or brown color for adults would be nice.
