Massage the ear at the base before they shake. Treatment must be done for 21 days. This product does not remove eggs and is ineffective for many of the other stages of mite growth except adult. Some vets recommend up to 30 to be safe to avoid reinfestation. Also make sure to wipe out any hardened ear wax gently so that there aren’t any colonies stuck feeding within it. **Q: are we supposed to poke a hole in the tip of the bottle for drops to come out?** A: No lol **Q: My cat also has these mites on his chin, should i rub some drops on other areas?** A: Your cat does not have chin mites. It's called acne for cats! Definitely just lightly wash it with a warm damp washcloth. My boys have that problem. It's over active hormones. **Q: Can this be used for my rats' ear mites? If so, what should the dosage be?** A: I wish I could answer you but ear mites are the most difficult things I have ever tried to treat in cats and dogs. I have never had a pet rat so I don't know the answer. I would try this and if it doesn't work go to a vet. Maybe they can help. Good luck. It was clean and didn’t leave a residue anywhere. It had a light smell that faded pretty quickly. Comfortable enough to fit in your hand and easy to use.
