Those are gain knobs. You wanna crank your receiver up to about 80% volume and then turn the gain knobs up to get maximum volume and sound without clipping. Using the gain knobs for volume increases distortion to speakers. With my set up my receiver goes to a 3 channel eq/ crossover with dedicated subout. Then that runs to 3 different amplifiers. A basic quick set up is my receiver is cranked to 80%max then I adjust my eq for gain on it using built in meter for maximum volume without clipping EQ then move on to Amp. Besides my sub amp my other two set somewhere between 12 and 22 gain. The amps peak power is not determined by how high you crank gain.
