## Description

Get an inside look at the real beginning of outlaw biker culture with this “raucous and heartfelt recounting of the early days of biker clubs” ( Roadbike ). The story starts one weekend in 1947, at a motorcycle race in Hollister, California. A few members of one club, the no-holds-barred “Boozefighters,” got a little juiced up and took their racing to the street. Word of the fracas spread, and soon enough Life magazine was on hand to tell the world, with sensational (albeit posed) pictures of the outlaws. And then the “Hollister riot” made its way into the movies, immortalized in Marlon Brando’s “The Wild One.” What was the reality behind the myth? Through interviews with the surviving members of the Boozefighters, current member Bill Hayes and club historian Jim “JQ” Quattlebaum take readers right into the fray for a firsthand account of what happened in Hollister, and the formation of the Boozefighters, where the outlaw biker culture truly began. The book, “with its great stories and entertaining real-life characters” ( MotorcycleUSA.com ), is “mandatory reading for anyone interested in American motorcycling history “( Minnesota Motorcycle Monthly ).

Review: Biker History - This book contains a collection of stories from Boozefighters members. All the stories are great, and read like they were told to you around a campfire on a run. The stories tell of a time now gone when the clubs were comprised of reckless fun-loving guys who wanted to ride motorcycles and enjoy life in post WW2 America. Before the helmet laws, police crackdowns, when riders could belong to multiple clubs and a used Knucklehead went for $150. If you can read this book and not wish you could don your leathers and roll your bike into a time machine and ride down to the All American Cafe in South Gate CA. to lift a glass and ride with The Boozefighters, then you might be more motorcyclist than biker. If on the other hand, you wish you could turn back the clock and hang with Wino Willie, J. D. Cameron, Vern Autrey, Gil Armas, and the rest of the club, you need to own this book!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ones perception is usually wrong.

Crazy how stories are embellished and overtold through the eyes of closed minds. Brotherhood is a missing part of much on the world today, we need that back. This book tells you what that life and world is like.
