I had purchased a standard chain, but it just did not work with our door and offered little security, as it was not strong. I decided to purchase a couple of these and see if they were as strong as they claim.They were very easy to install. I just unscrewed the 2 screws from the strike plate on the door frame, they screwed the new strike plate lock in using 2 screws that came with it. It took me less than 30 seconds to get one of these onto my door frame.To use this, you simply hook the round part of the chain over your door handle, then flip the hinge over the door. If you want to open your front door to see who is out there, leave the chain on the handle and just open the hinge. Initially, I thought that the hinge was defective, as I had to lift it up to move it over. However, I quickly realized that they made them this way so you do not lock yourself out of the house.I see a few reviews where people had concerns about small hands being able to fit through the crack in the door and remove the ring. That is not something that concerns me. While we are home, we have the hinge across the door. The door cannot be opened at all when the hinge is across the door. If anyone reached in to try and undo the chain while I was answering the door, they would get a door repeatedly slammed on their hands.This thing is very well made and it is solid. I would not hesitate to purchase these again. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good alternative to traditional chain locks. *by K***O on July 11, 2019* Don't usually buy into the "as seen on tv" stuff but these are a quality and not overly complicated security lock. Chain seems sturdy and solid and the strike plate is thicker that normal ones. Swings out of the way when not in use and gives my wife peice of mind when in use. I do reccomend using maybe a 2" square or star bit head screw if you want to be extra safe but it seems like you'd probably hear someone fiddling with it before they get it off. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Didn’t work with apartment door strike plate. *by M***N on August 13, 2020* The strike plate lock is very sturdy, but it wasn’t compatible with my existing strike plate. The screws on my door frame were too far apart for the lock to be used.
