When I was young some 60 years ago, I read the originals. This book has the versions I read so long ago.....not waterered-down alternatives some academic might think more appropriate because it might "hurt the children" if they read something where bad guys win and good guys loose.Being an adherent of the TV show with the same name as this book I can only state that my Kindle Fire downloads each new episode Monday morning, thanks to a Season Pass. Rumpelstiltskin was not a bad guy in the original fairy tale. The boasting father, the greedy king, the daughter who made a deal (understanding the terms) and reneged were the very beautiful bad guys who cheated and won, IMHO. I was also pleased that this book came in a hard cover. As 'Once Upon A Time' is one of my favorite TV shows, I had to get this book and revisit some of the classic fairy tales I read as a child. I am so glad I found it on here. It came wrapped in an Amazon book box and the box didn't seem damaged at all. Upon opening the box, I saw that the pages had separated from the binding and were in two pieces. Not a huge problem that can be fixed with a little hot glue and probably isn't even the sellers fault. More than likely the publishing company used cheap glue.
